More Hershey’s Bliss

I experimented more with some satins and the candy Hershey’s Bliss today and came up with a nice shot. The white chocolate flavor of the Hershey’s Bliss candies has a really elegant white wrapper so I wanted try photographing it against some ivory satin. I tried arranging the satin so it almost looked like melted white chocolate. I think this image almost looks as though the candy is being dropped into a puddle of melted white chocolate and the lines in the satin are like the melted chocolate reacting to the candy being dropped.

I’ve come to the realization that photographing small product is a lot harder than it may seem. I looked on the Hershey’s website to see what their imagery looks like and all the candies are pristine and smooth. Then I go to open up my bag from the store, I sort through all the candies to find the most attractive one–which isn’t easy considering most of the foils are wrinkled or some of the candy which isn’t wrinkled has a chunk of foil missing exposing the chocolate. 😦

Anyway, it was a fun thing to do and I plan to work more with this as there are plenty of flavors. I am going to work with the raspberry flavor and mint next. I plan to probably revisit the milk chocolate now that I have a better idea of how to light the satin and chocolates together.
