Raspberry Hot Dog Relish

I finally got to take some images of food yesterday! My friends the Ragsdales came over to grill hot dogs and try a few new recipes for hot dog relish. I chose a raspberry relish that I found from the Taste of Home magazine I subscribe to. It was fantastic! I modified the recipe a little bit to fit the ingredients I had around the house, so I’ll post the recipe I made as well as the original recipe. But first, images!!!

**My Recipe:

2 pints of fresh raspberries washed and dried

2 tsp of fresh minced garlic

1 small red onion chopped

1-2 Tbsp fresh minced chives

2-3 Tbsp fresh chopped basil

1 tsp fresh ground pepper

1 tsp salt

3 Tbsp olive oil

3 Tbsp of Pear Balsam vinegar

** Add all ingredients besides berries and mix thoroughly, then add berries and toss until fully coated

**Taste of Home Recipe

2 cups fresh raspberries

4 green onions, thinly sliced

1/2 cup chopped red onion

2 Tbsp. white wine vinegar

2 Tbsp. olive oil

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 Tbsp. minced fresh mint

1/8 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp coarsely ground pepper

I know! I was interested in the recipe because I love raspberries. I was curious to see how the two flavors would mix. I really enjoyed it! Chet of course said it was good, but that he prefers just plain ketchup and mustard. Then again, he isn’t always as adventurous when it comes to altering tried and true foods. You should give it a try and see if you like it! I also was excited because I finally got to use some of that delicious German balsamic vinegar we got from Vom Fass!

I used the old af nikkor 50 mm 1.4. I love it! it has a very specific focus though, but I love the bokeh and where you are focused is always tack sharp! Glad you liked them Aimee!

I made this recipe for a large back yard party. All who tried it loved it, but more liked your Happy Hot Dog Relish. I loved them both. My raspberries were fresh, home grown, and pretty much fell apart when mixed together, so it didn’t look like this picture, but it looked more like a relish. Also, I chopped up the mint.
