I have been feeling guilty about not posting anything lately, but I trust you all understand the whirlwind that is the holiday season and how quickly time passes. It is now the eve of the new year and I thought it would be interesting to create a post reviewing my 2013 through images. Today is also the second anniversary of my grandmother’s passing. I am astonished looking through all of the images documenting my adventures and special moments. Two years ago today it was difficult to imagine any kind of adventure as my life had been irrevocably changed. New Year’s eve will probably never be the same for me, but I’m okay with that now. For a long while I dreaded this day and was somehow offended at everyone’s joy. How could anyone possibly be getting sloshed and clinking glasses cheering on another new year without one of the best people in the world? This year I welcome today, encouraged by the strength and love of my grandmother who would want nothing more for me than to continue my adventures documenting them along the way. I found this quote and it resonated with me. “Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever…it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything. ” –Aaron Siskind
Happy New Year to you all!
